OMEDAD PLC was born in October 1992, out of the united will of five Ethiopian entrepreneurs, who are senior members of the business community. OMEDAD was incorporated with the business objective of serving offices, homes, hotels, hospitals, and educational institutions.

The founders of the company had from its inception undivided commitment and a bright vision of creating a strong company of generations.

The company had a very humble beginning but a very strong management team with full commitment to realize its dreams and targets. The company started operations by employing one guard and one cleaner.

Today OMEDAD provides employment opportunity to greater than 600 young men and women Ethiopians.

OMEDAD started with a single outlet in a small house in Addis Ababa. Currently it is operating from 22 outlets in the capital and major commercial centers all over the country. All branch offices are well organized, have an efficient distribution service as well as an efficient technical backup service. Each outlet supports a dealer network. We can proudly say OMEDAD leads the sector both in its distribution outlets and its efficient after sales service to its customers.


OMEDAD enjoys a mature and strong professional team. Its founders represent the highest organ of its management possessing over 200 years of combined, seasoned experience and serving as the Board of Directors. Before incorporating OMEDAD in 1992 each one of its founders were holding leadership positions in public and private companies. Its founders maintain a spotless track record and have earned the respect of the business community at large. The quick takeoff and growth of OMEDAD is strongly linked with the excellence, respect and relationship that the founders maintain with the financial sector and the business community at large.

OMEDAD's top management members come from a multi-discipline, both in qualification and experience. This has helped to cement the company’s activities in various areas. Further more apart from the founding directors OMEDAD enjoys a young management team of professionals. Most of its branch managers and department heads posses a minimum of first degree in different areas of specializations.

OMEDAD has a profound belief of contributing its modest share in building the countries human resources potential. As a result the company covers tuition fees at college and university level and so far many of its management staff has earned their first degree through this program. This clearly demonstrates our quest to build a strong and qualified manpower and management team.

Manpower plays a crucial role in a trading house like OMEDAD. Our manpower is carefully selected in term of its qualification, experience, commitment, and behavior. We do everything to motivate our employees with different incentive systems so that they always feel that they are family members of OMEDAD.

Although OMEDAD handles different product groups, which in effect compliment each other, we maintain at the same time critical specialization in each product group. Our sales team and our back-up service are divided by department /shop so that both at the selling point as well as on technical service product knowledge is given first hand priority.

Each product line is given very close attention and is handled by its Product Manager to get the maximum results. From their convenience point of view our customers greatly appreciate the fact that we are handling different product groups under one roof.

Distribution network is an essential element for a trading company like OMEDAD. Thus our market at the moment is the entire country. We are committed to provide our goods and services to all parts of the country either through our branch office or through a network of dealers.

Our management has a clear vision and business purpose committed to serving each and every citizen irrespective of where they reside in the country.

The founders and directors of OMEDAD maintain 4 decades of relationship with world-renowned manufacturers and suppliers in all product groups. We have therefore been able to maintain exclusive distributorship right for almost all the product groups that we are importing from foreign sources.

The manufacturers that we have selected to work with are leading brand manufacturers who maintain excellent quality and reliability. Our products have therefore won popularity and great acceptance among all our customers.

Our technical and sales personnel are continuously trained by our manufacturers to update themselves with rapid technological changes in the world.

Most of the products that we deal with are either electronics or electromechanical goods. The nature of the product requires regular servicing with or without change of spare parts. In order to keep a satisfied customer our technical backup service is therefore efficient and reliable. Competent technical manpower, sufficient stock of spare parts, state of the art repair equipment and adequate working space are required to keep a satisfied customer and an all time customer for OMEDAD.

OMEDAD runs a large technical center, which employs more than 45 experienced technicians in its multi purpose workshop as well as outlying branches. Our workshop is adequately equipped with state of art equipment.

All the goods that we carry are entitled to a one-year warranty service for faulty workmanship (manufacturing defects). We provide free operators training and technical advice whenever required.

We do not allow our customers to set their hands on our machines before they are properly trained to optimize the output of the equipment as well as its long useful life.
